What is growth?
We all “breathe” creativity in several ways - and ever since I left the corporate world I have been rediscovering, enjoying and playing with mine, with its highs and lows. What I learned is that our “don’t s” and fear of judgement often make us reluctant to truly share what is inside. This way we often “contract” ourselves and our voice, our unique way of expression, as a way of protection. Unfortunately, at times, this may have detrimental results to our health... like it happened with me and that’s another story to be told!
Yet, when we do share, we give permission to others to do the same. This may go a long way and have ripple effects in our hyper-connected world, where we are often taught -or trapped into believing- that everything needs to be transactional, monetized and exploited…
My personal challenge, since my early coaching days, has been to lean in and allow words to emerge, simply for the sheer joy of it. Still it took me quite some time to feel safe enough to share with the world. Often when I give myself permission to slowdown, be at ease, succinct quotes or inspiring sentences pop out of nothing. Like this one here: “Growth is not about becoming something you are not; it is about becoming more of something you are.” Once out of a coaching session with my own coach, these words came up. It was my very first experiment; it felt like a dance of inspiration and I LOVED the simplicity of it! Often these quotes are reflections from coaching sessions, walks in nature, own experiences.
So, what is growth for you? Where do you witness growth right now? Feel invited to use your senses - maybe it is something you see, listen to, smell, touch, or even taste. I wonder, what could be the taste of growth?!
